PARISLotus mempertimbangkan untuk memperkenalkan varian mesin V8 untuk Emira sebagai bagian dari strategi baru untuk memperluas daya tarik model mesin pembakaran terbaru perusahaan tersebut.

Langkah tersebut dilakukan karena Lotus yang sekarang dimiliki oleh Geely berupaya untuk memenuhi regulasi emisi dan permintaan pasar, khususnya di Amerika Serikat.

Emira saat ini ditawarkan dalam dua konfigurasi daya – V6 supercharged yang bersumber dari Toyota, dan mesin empat silinder turbocharged dari Mercedes-AMG – yang masing-masing mampu menghasilkan hingga 400hp.

Namun, mesin V6 dijadwalkan untuk dihentikan karena tidak lagi mematuhi regulasi emisi Euro 7 yang akan datang.
