PSSI akhirnya resmi menunjuk Simon Tahamata sebagai kepala pemandu bakat sepak bola nasional. Nantinya, legenda Ajax Amsterdam itu akan bertanggung jawab untuk mengidentifikasi dan merekrut talenta potensial baik dari dalam negeri maupun diaspora Indonesia di luar negeri, khususnya di Belanda.

“PSSI resmi mengumumkan penunjukan Simon Tahamata sebagai Kepala Pemandu Bakat (Head of Scouting) sepak bola nasional. Langkah strategis ini merupakan bagian dari komitmen PSSI dalam memperkuat pondasi pengembangan pemain nasional menuju Piala Dunia 2026 dan seterusnya,” tulis PSSI dalam laman resminya, Kamis (22/5/2025).

Pelatih yang memiliki darah keturunan Maluku itu akan bekerja sama erat dengan pelatih Patrick Kluivert, Gerald Vanenburg, dan Nova Arianto. Itu untuk memastikan keberlanjutan, kualitas, serta perkembangan Timnas Indonesia dan sepak bola nasional.

Ketum PSSI, Erick Thohir, menyambut antusias Simon Tahamata. Erick mengatakan, kehadiran sosok kelahiran Vught, Belanda itu akan sangat berharga dalam pengembangan talenta muda Indonesia.
