Euforia kemenangan Timnas Indonesia atas China masih terasa. Bahkan Skuad Garuda kini di ambang lonjakan posisi di ranking FIFA, jika tradisi ini berlanjut saat bertandang ke markas Jepang pada laga pemungkas fase Grup C putaran ketiga Kualifikasi Piala Dunia 2026 zona Asia di Suita City Stadium, Selasa (10/6/2025).

Tengah pekan lalu, Timnas Indonesia mengukir sejarah dengan mengalahkan China dengan skor 1-0. Gol semata wayang tuan rumah dicetak Ole Romeny melalui tendangan penalti.

Kemenangan ini membuat posisi Timnas Indonesia merangkak naik ke peringkat 117 dunia. Selang dua hari kemudian, tim besutan Patrick Kluivert mendapat kabar membanggakan bahwa peringkat Skuad Garuda kembali naik ke urutan 116, setelah Zimbabwe menelan kekalahan 0-2 dari Burkina Faso.

Berdasarkan perhitungan Football Ranking, total poin Timnas Indonesia adalah 1.157,97. Namun, potensi peningkatan ini belum berhenti. Poin Timnas Indonesia bisa bertambah drastis dan memperbaiki posisinya di ranking FIFA. Asalkan, mampu meraih setidaknya hasil imbang saat menghadapi Jepang.
